The largest town along the Cassowary Coast, Innisfail, is primarily known for producing sugar and bananas. It is also remembered for the devastation Cyclone Larry unleashed on the town in 2013.
Innisfail is one of Australia’s wettest towns with an annual rainfall of 3,570mm (140 inches)! Babinda, 30km north of Innisfail is even wetter - the average annual rainfall is a whopping 4,200mm! It was where Michael, Gemma and Jesse stayed for two nights. Here’s what he wrote about their visit…
“not much happened as it rained and rained and rained and rained. Oh and it rained a little more.”
They did have a small window of dry weather to explore the Mamu sky walk. Some spectacular views greeted them from the tree tops. (check out the pics below!)
