Airlie Beach is the gateway to the beautiful Whitsunday Islands and a popular exit point for visitors to enjoy the remarkable Great Barrier Reef.
Michael and the kids arrived at Airlie Beach on the last day of the Reef festival. They walked around the harbor looking for activities to enjoy but, unfortunately, the town’s annual festivities had all but finished.
At the caravan park, the kids found some new friends from Melbourne to play with. They were content to catch up on the serious business of things that only under 10’s understand! When they did take a break from playing, the activities inevitably turned to water – swimming in the man-made lagoon pool at Airlie Beach and adventuring at Cedar falls. Gemma also enjoyed following the resident ducks around, which were very pretty and quite friendly.
The Airlie Beach stop provided a good opportunity to get Bilbo looked at by the local Toyota specialists. We thought he may have had steering problems but, luckily, everything was fine and he just needed a wheel alignment. Hardly unexpected after the punishment we’d put him through across the top end!
